What is The Great Irish Clan Gathering?
The Great Irish Clan Gathering is an online movement aimed at connecting people of Irish heritage on a global scale.
The purpose is to reach out and to connect the Irish diaspora in a meaningful yet easily accessible manner. It is by understanding our past that we can look to the future with hope and a confidence that comes from those who know who they are and from where they came.
Remember, it is your birth-right to be part of your clan so there are no fees involved in joining your clan at The Great Irish Clan Gathering and there never will be.
You can join your Irish clan via Facebook or by submitting your details on this website – more than 70,000 people have already connected!
- Receive FREE lifetime membership of your Irish Clan.
- Complimentary Irish Clan Membership Certificate when you join (& it’s fully printable!)
- Connect & interact with people who share your Irish clan heritage – over 70,000 people have already connected and this network of people is growing daily.
- Add family members so they can receive their FREE Clan Membership & Certificate too [on Facebook simply suggest your clan page to family or add their email address to the web app on this site].
Membership of your Irish Clan is and ALWAYS will be free.
In Ancient Ireland, when you were born you automatically became part of your family clan. As it was then, so it now is once again…being part of a clan is your birth-right, your heritage.
Having an Irish family name or having one within your family tree is the only approval you need in order to be regarded as a member of your clan at The Great Irish Clan Gathering – absolutely no lengthy document submissions or red-tape administration required.
How do I get my Membership Certificate?
You can receive your Irish Clan Membership Certificate in two ways:
- If you join using Facebook, your certificate will be posted to your Timeline (Wall) and to your Photo Album.
- If you join without using Facebook, your certificate will be sent the email address that you have provided upon signing up on this website.
Can I add my family members to my Irish Clan?
Absolutely!
- If you join using Facebook you can share your certificate on your relations Facebook Wall instructing them to claim their FREE Membership & Certificate at the following link: www.irishclangathering.com/join-your-irish-clan
- If you join using the sign-up form on this website, you can add family members via the "Nominate Family Members" option and they will receive an email notifying them of their membership with a link to their Irish Clan Certificate.

How can I connect with other clan members?
Already there are individual clan websites (view full list here) which have a whole range of features, articles and open guest-books where you can ask questions, leave comments and interact with fellow clan members.
With over 450+ clans registered we are working towards helping all clan groups have their own individual websites and in the meantime, Facebook pages have been produced to provide a platform for people to interact and connect on.
Who operates The Great Irish Clan Gathering?
The Great Irish Clan Gathering is operated by the Irish Clans Network which is the umbrella organisation for clan groups in Ireland.
Irish Clans Network has been initiated by Irish clan groups who have seen the need to establish a progressive, technology-led approach to the promotion of Irish clan heritage on a worldwide scale.
What happens when I submit my email address?
